OCALA, FL – Ocala Fire Rescue said its crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 northbound on Thursday afternoon.
According to a Facebook post at 2:28 p.m., the wreck occurred near mile marker 352 and involved a box truck, a compact SUV and a small dump truck.
Rescuers used extrication tools to free the box truck driver who had been trapped inside the vehicle. That driver and a passenger in the SUV were taken to an area hospital as trauma alerts. The drivers of the SUV and the dump truck were also transported for evaluation.
The crash also caused about 30 gallons of diesel fuel to be spilled from the box truck’s saddle tank. All northbound lanes of I-75 were closed near the scene for the accident response and cleanup efforts.
