HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A car accident in Hernando County on Saturday night claimed the life of a 4-year-old girl, state troopers said.
A report by WTVT states that a woman was driving a Kia Optima south on State Road 589 near U.S. 98 when the crash occurred at about 10 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver lost control of the car and drove off the road, where the vehicle collided with a concrete culvert. The Kia went airborne, flipped, and ended up on the shoulder of the highway.
The 4-year-old was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The driver, a 47-year-old woman from Lee, Florida, and another passenger, a 7-year-old girl, were hospitalized with serious injuries.
