News: Woman, 73, dies after car crashes into trees, catches fire in Citrus County

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – A fiery car accident in Citrus County on Tuesday night left a driver dead, according to WFTS.

State troopers responded to the wreck in the area of Torenia Verbenas Court and Poppy Street in Homosassa.

The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation found that the driver of a Chevy Impala was headed west on Poppy Street at about 8:41 p.m. when she veered off the road for unknown reasons.

The vehicle collided with several trees and then caught fire.  The driver, a 73-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
