Tampa Airport Construction Equipment Operator Killed On the Job | Tampa Workplace Wrongful Death Lawyers Whittel & Melton

A construction equipment operator was killed Wednesday morning in an accident at Tampa International Airport.

The incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. when workers were working on a shuttle guideway project, according to a news release.
The investigation is ongoing. Flight operations continued unaffected.

Individuals who operate with heavy machinery or equipment are more likely to be injured than those working other types of occupations. Although it is the duty of employers to ensure that workers who handle such equipment are safe, even minor accidents sometimes end in significant injury. Equipment injuries are not necessarily the employer’s fault; in certain cases, a machinery or parts manufacturer is to blame. It is crucial to consult with a knowledgeable workplace injury lawyer if you or a loved one experienced an injury from heavy equipment so you are aware of your rights and alternatives.

Serious injuries from heavy machinery and equipment are common on construction sites, manufacturing plants, farms, and other places where repetitive physical labor is done. Equipment accidents can result from a variety of machinery, including:

  • Power saws
  • Cranes
  • Scaffolding and ladders
  • Cable reels
  • Printers
  • Crushers
  • Rollers
  • Packaging machines
  • Nail guns
  • Drill presses
  • Grinders
  • Hose reels
  • Forklifts
  • Backhoes
  • Welding machines
  • Production belts
  • Cutting machines
  • Capping machines
