GAINESVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol and Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a bicycle accident Tuesday night, reports WCJB.

It happened in the vicinity of Northwest 39th Avenue and Northwest 53rd Street in Gainesville shortly before 6 p.m.

According to state troopers, a man riding a bicycle was struck near the intersection by a 2011 Nissan. The bicyclist suffered injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital.  The victim’s identity was not disclosed.

SORRENTO, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run incident in Lake County last Wednesday morning that left a bicyclist hospitalized.

According to WKMG, the crash happened on Wolf Branch Road near County Road 437 in Sorrento.  The FHP said a 59-year-old bicycle rider was headed east on Wolf Branch Road at about 4:45 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle going in the same direction.

The victim, a man from Sorrento, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The bicycle did have proper lighting, troopers said.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Pasco County, state troopers said.

A report by Pasco News Online states that the incident occurred June 18 on State Road 54 near Sunlake Boulevard.  An investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol determined that the bicycle rider was heading west on SR-54 ahead of a pickup truck in the left travel lane at about 2 a.m.  The pickup collided with the bicyclist, who ended up in the grass median.

The bike rider, a 37-year-old man from Lutz, was hospitalized in serious condition.  The FHP said the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene without stopping to help.  A search is now underway for the driver and vehicle involved.  Vehicle parts found at the scene indicated that it was a Ford F-150 pickup.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A vehicle and a bicycle were involved in a fatal collision Sunday morning in Hernando County, state troopers said.

The incident occurred on Sunshine Grove Road north of Montour Street, according to WTFS.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Chrysler 200 was going south in the outer lane of the roadway and failed to notice an electric bicycle going in the same direction.

PASCO CO., FL – A Port Richey man was killed last night when he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Zephyrhills, according to Fox 13.

Police say the victim was northbound on Eiland Boulevard near Gold Links Boulevard at about 10:49 a.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Camry.

The rider, an unidentified 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he was riding without any lights when the incident occurred.

MARION COUNTY, FL –  A bicycle rider died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Marion County early Friday morning, reports WESH.

The accident happened on US-441 south near Dell Webb Boulevard at about 4:30 a.m.  An investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol found that a man was riding a bicycle on the outside shoulder of the highway when he was hit by a vehicle.  The victim, a 44-year-old man from Umatilla, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The bicycle did not have any lights on it at the time, according to the FHP.

The driver and the vehicle involved are now being sought by state troopers, who described the vehicle as a silver or gray Chevy Tahoe, GMC Suburban, Chevy pickup or GMC pickup from 1994-1998.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – State troopers are investigating an accident in Lake County that killed a bicycle rider late Friday night.

WOFL reports a bicyclist and the driver of a pickup truck were both headed west on State Road 46 east of Deal Drive at about 10:24 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bicyclist was initially riding on the shoulder of the roadway, but began to move in a southwesterly direction and entered the westbound lane.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol investigated a fatal bicycle accident that occurred in Marion County last week.

According to WKMG, the victim was a male who was riding a bicycle east in the westbound lane of NE 35th Street shortly after 10 p.m.  State troopers determined that a westbound vehicle struck the bicyclist near NE 16th Court.

The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the car, a 17-year-old Ocala boy, and his three passengers, all from Orange Park, were not injured.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – A bicyclist was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Citrus County Friday night, WFLA reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 49-year-old man was riding his bicycle on West Grover Cleveland Boulevard at about 10:25 p.m. when he was hit by an eastbound sedan.  The victim, a Homosassa resident, was seriously injured and airlifted to an area hospital.

State troopers said the driver of the sedan kept going after the collision without stopping to help, and is now being sought.  The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, did have a light on his bike.

OCALA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver who struck and killed a bicycle rider in Ocala last week, Ocala-News.com reports.

The accident happened Wednesday night on NE Jacksonville Road near the intersection of NE 31st Street at about 8:20 p.m.  The FHP said a 38-year-old Ocala man was riding a bicycle west across NE Jacksonville Road when he was hit by an SUV heading south and suffered fatal injuries.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene after the crash without stopping.  State troopers have now released a photo and a description of the vehicle they are looking for.  It is believed to be a 2007 to 2014 Chevrolet Suburban that is gray or silver in color.
