ALACHUA COUNTY, FL -Drivers encountered road closures in a portion of Alachua County Friday afternoon following what authorities said was a major crash.

In a Facebook post, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office said the accident with serious injury happened near N Highway 301 and SE 201st Terrace in Citra.  No information was released on who had been injured.

The northbound lanes of N Highway 301 were closed to all traffic at the intersection with E Highway 318.  All lanes were reported to have reopened by 12:49 p.m.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – A pickup truck accident in Alachua County last week left a driver dead, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The Main Street Daily News reports a woman was driving north on Interstate 75 in a Ford F-150 when the crash occurred Tuesday night at about 11:25 p.m.

The FHP said the driver went off the right shoulder off the I-75 mile marker 384 entrance ramp for Archer Road.  The vehicle overturned and ended up against a chain link fence.

LEVY COUNTY, FL – A driver was killed in a crash in Levy County near the Alachua County line Monday evening, WCJB reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol and county sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene on County Road 241 after the accident occurred at about 6 p.m.

State troopers said an 85-year-old man was driving a van south when he went off the roadway and onto a grass shoulder.  The vehicle then struck a fence and a tree.

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL – A multi-vehicle accident in Pasco County on Friday afternoon left one of the drivers dead, Lutz Patch reported. 

The crash happened on Eiland Boulevard near Fountain Road in Zephyrhills at about 1:33 p.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was driving eastbound in a pickup truck when he suffered a medical emergency and crossed over the center line.

The pickup struck the front of a van and an SUV that were both going west.  The driver of the pickup, a 50-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman was killed when the ambulance transporting her was struck by another vehicle.

WTSP reported details of the incident that occurred Tuesday evening at the intersection of State Road 54 and Morris Bridge Road in Pasco County.

An investigation determined that a Pasco County Fire Rescue ambulance was going south on Morris Bridge Road with its emergency sirens on while rushing the patient to the hospital.  The driver of a Toyota Corolla was going east on State Road 54 and had a green light but did not yield to the ambulance.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A collision on the Florida Turnpike in Lake County sent two people to the hospital, according to a report by WESH.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a total of five vehicles were involved in the wreck that occurred along the turnpike in Clermont.

The victims were transported with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.  No details were released on what led to the crash.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – One person was injured when a vehicle crashed near a shopping center in The Villages on Friday afternoon, the Villages-News reports.

The accident happened in the vicinity of County Road 466A and Heald Way near Colony Plaza. Authorities said a car struck a pole at that location at about 4:30 p.m.  One person was transported by ambulance but there were no immediate details on the victim’s condition.

Eastbound lanes of Country Road 466A were shut down for about 90 minutes, disrupting traffic through the area.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A crash was disrupting traffic for drivers in Marion County on Friday afternoon, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

An alert posted on the state’s FL511 system at 3:16 p.m. said that the accident had occurred on Interstate 75 South beyond mile marker 348.

The left shoulder of the interstate was blocked, and traffic was reported to be backed up to beyond mile marker 350.  There were no immediate reports of injuries.

ORANGE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said one person was killed and two others injured in a crash in Orange County on Sunday night.

WKMG reports the incident happened in the area of State Road 528 and John Young Parkway.  The FHP’s accident report indicated that a driver on John Young Parkway was trying to turn onto the State Road 528 entrance ramp at about 10:50 p.m. when the vehicle entered the median.  It then rotated into the northbound travel lanes and collided with a van and a sedan.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 28-year-old man from Kissimmee, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.

HIGH SPRINGS, FL – A rollover car accident in Alachua County on Saturday morning claimed the life of a driver, the Main Street Daily News reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol and first responders were called to the scene in the area of Highway 441 and NW 194th Street near High Springs. The FHP determined that the driver of an SUV was headed north sometime before 9 a.m. when the vehicle went off the roadway, onto the right shoulder, and into a ditch.

The SUV then collided with a culvert and flipped over onto its roof.  The driver, a 46-year-old Old Town woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.  State troopers are investigating the accident, and said the victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
