OCALA, FL – A two-vehicle collision in Ocala Friday evening sent seven people to the hospital, the Ocala News reports.

Ocala Police, Ocala Fire Rescue, and Marion County Fire Rescue all responded to the scene in the area of W Silver Springs Boulevard and NW 30th Avenue just before 6:15 p.m.

Crews arrived to find that a pickup truck had collided with a compact sport utility vehicle. Rescue crews extricated a passenger from the SUV with the use of cutters and spreaders.  That person was taken to an area hospital as a trauma alert.  The driver of the SUV and five people in the pickup truck – two adults and three children – were also taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – One person was killed and another seriously injured in a collision in Okahumpka, Lake County on Sunday morning, the Leesburg-News reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man driving a Mitsubishi Outlander went through a red light on County Road 470 near County Road 33 at about 8:44 a.m.  The Mitsubishi crashed into the side of a semi-truck driven by a 43-year-old Brandon man who had the green light.

A 25-year-old passenger in the Mitsubishi was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 33-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi, a Bradenton man, was seriously injured and flown to Orlando Regional Medical Center.  Crews at the scene cleaned up a spill of diesel fuel resulting from the crash.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a high-speed car crash killed a teenage driver in Marion County.

According to a report by WKMG, a 17-year-old was driving a car at a high rate of speed on SE 58th Avenue Sept. 25 when the accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m.

State troopers said the driver lost control of the car after the left tire sustained a failure.  The car went off the road, and when the driver overcorrected, the vehicle went back across the roadway and onto a grass shoulder before crashing into a wooden fence.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A car accident at an intersection in Sumter County Tuesday morning claimed the life of a driver, reports the Villages-News.

The Florida Highway Patrol issued a report on the crash that happened in the area of County Road 476 and County Road 647 just east of Nobleton. According to the FHP, a woman driving a sedan was leaving the parking lot of a Circle K/Shell gas station at about 8:10 a.m. when she entered the path of a pickup truck approaching the exit of the gas station.  The front of the pickup then collided with the car, which overturned as a result of the collision.

The sedan driver, a 38-year-old resident of Bushnell, was taken to an area hospital where she died of her injuries.

SILVER SPRINGS, FL – A crash between a sport utility vehicle and a sedan in Silver Springs Thursday left two people dead and and another injured, state troopers said.

The Ocala Star-Banner reports authorities were notified of the incident on State Road 40 East near Northeast 14th Street Road at about 1:30 p.m.

Investigators said a Hyundai Elantra and a Jeep Liberty were going in opposite directions at a curve in the roadway when the Hyundai drifted into the lane of the Jeep, resulting in a collision.  Two women in the Hyundai, ages 63 and 57, died after being transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.  Both were residents of Silver Springs.

OCALA, FL – Police in Ocala said the driver of a sport utility vehicle died following a collision with a school bus Wednesday morning.

According to the Ocala-News, the two vehicles were going in opposite directions near the intersection of SE 36th Avenue and SE 15th Street at about 8:10 a.m.  Police said the driver of the SUV swerved through traffic, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Marion County school bus.  The SUV then hit a tree.

The SUV driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.   No one else was in the vehicle.  No one was injured on board the bus, which was carrying high school students.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A car accident in The Villages Sunday evening sent a driver to the hospital, according to the Villages-News.

The incident occurred on Buena Vista Boulevard near Bonita Boulevard in Sumter County at about 5:45 p.m.  The Sumter County Sheriff’s Ofice said a man was driving south when his vehicle entered the median and crashed into a palm tree.

The driver was taken to UF Health-The Villages Hospital with minor injuries, and was then given a ticket for careless driving.

DUNELLON, FL – State troopers said a vehicle going south on SW 180th Avenue in Dunnellon was involved in a deadly crash over the weekend.

According to the Ocala News, five people were in a sedan involved in the accident on Saturday night at about 8:30 p.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old woman was driving near the intersection of SW Highway 484 when the vehicle struck a gate in the private driveway of Cannon Farms.  The car hit several fence posts and trees, and ended up on the driveway.

The driver, a Homosassa resident, was pronounced dead a short time later.  Four passengers in the sedan who range in age 18 to 25 were seriously injured and taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.  Troopers said none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver died after crashing into a home in Hernando County Wednesday morning.

According to WFTS, the accident happened on Fulton Avenue near Fox Sparrow Avenue in Brooksville shortly before noon. State troopers determined that a 57-year-old man was speeding in a Toyota Prius while heading west when he lost control of his car on a curve in the road.

The car went off the roadway, hit an embankment and a tree, and then plowed into a home on Fulton Avenue before catching fire.  The motorist, a Port Richey resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two people in the house were not injured.

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL – An accident in Citrus County involving a sport utility vehicle left a driver dead, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to WFLA, the wreck happened in Crystal River Wednesday morning at about 1:30 a.m.  State troopers said a 33-year-old man was driving an SUV west on Fort Island Trail and was not able to negotiate a curve in the roadway near North Seabreeze Point.

The SUV went off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.  The driver, a Lecanto resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
