News: 11-year-old killed in single-vehicle crash on Florida’s Turnpike

THE VILLAGES, FL – A child was killed and two other individuals were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash near Wildwood on Saturday evening.

According to a report by Villages-News, the driver of a 2000 Chrysler Caravan lost control of he vehicle on the Florida Turnpike just south of I-75 at about 6:04 p.m. The vehicle then entered the shoulder, where it hit a guardrail, skidded back across the roadway, and struck a tree.

An 11-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 40-year-old Ocala man, and a 71-year-old female passenger were hospitalized in serious condition.

News: Multi-vehicle crash in West Ocala leaves 2 injured

OCALA, FL – A collision involving multiple vehicles in West Ocala Wednesday morning left two people injured, WCJB reports.

The accident happened at about 9:30 a.m. along Southwest Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue near the Ed Croskey Recreation Center.

First responders discovered two vehicles severely damaged at the scene. Both drivers were taken to a nearby hospital, one with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

News: Single-vehicle crash on Bellamy Brothers Blvd. kills Spring Hill man

PASCO CO., FL – A man from Spring Hill as killed in a rollover collision on Bellamy Brothers Boulevard on Wednesday evening.

According to the Tampa Free Press, the 40-year-old man lost control of his pickup truck when approaching Johnston Road at about 6:09 p.m. The truck veered across the northbound lanes, rolled an unknown number of times, and struck a tree.

The unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

News: 25-year-old woman killed, man arrested in suspected DUI crash on I-75

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A man is facing DUI and manslaughter charges in connection a crash that claimed the life of a Zephyrhills woman on Tuesday night.

According to a report by the Tampa Free Press, the crash happened at about 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75 near milepost 268.

Troopers believe the driver of a Honda Accord, 31-year-old Michael Troy Jones, struck a Chevrolet Cruz driven by a 25-year-old man from Zephyrhills. The Chevrolet then struck the median before colliding with a tree.

News: 69-year-old Gainesville man killed in rollover crash on FL-121

GAINESVILLE, FL – A man from Gainesville was killed early Sunday morning following a single-vehicle crash in Alachua County.

According to Ocala News, the incident took place at about 4 a.m. along FL-121 near the intersection with Southwest 78th Lane.

Troopers say the victim’s SUV drifted off the side of the roadway for unknown reasons and overturned. The driver, a 69-year-old Gainesville man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

News: Collision involving police vehicle in Tarpon Springs leaves 1 dead

TAMPA, FL – A woman was killed in a collision involving a police patrol vehicle near Tarpon Springs this morning.

According to WFLA, the crash took place at about 2:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of US-19 near the exit to Klosterman Road.

FHP said several patrol vehicles were parked on the inside lane of the freeway when a 2010 Hyundai Accent slammed into the rear of one of the cruisers.

News: Zephyrhills man killed, several injured after two-car crash on FL-54

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – A man died and three people suffered serious injuries after a collision on FL-54 Thursday morning.

The fatal crash happened around 10:15 a.m. as a Zephyrhills man was traveling eastbound in an SUV approaching Foxwood Boulevard reports the Tampa Free Press.

The 79-year-old man lost control of the SUV and crashed into several construction barrels on the outside shoulder. The SUV then crossed the roadway and struck an oncoming van nearly head-on.

News: Port Richey man killed after two-car collision in Pasco Co.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – An 86-year-old man died following a two-vehicle collision in New Port Richey Monday afternoon.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the fatal collision happened around noon on Ridge Road just east of Regency Park Boulevard.

The man was exiting a private driveway onto Ridge Road when an eastbound driver in a sedan struck the side of his vehicle.

News: 1 killed, another seriously injured after multi-vehicle crash on SR-44

LAKE COUNTY, FL – One person died and another was seriously hurt following a three-vehicle crash on State Road 44 in Eustis Tuesday evening.

According to WFTV, the fatal crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on State Road 44 near Donna Vista Place. A 22-year-old Sanford man was driving westbound in a Nissan Altima when he crossed the center lane into oncoming traffic.

He sideswiped an eastbound Honda Accord and then crashed head-on with an eastbound pickup truck.

News: Man killed after crashing into 11-foot alligator in Lithia

LITHIA, FL – A man was killed after hitting an alligator while driving on a Lithia roadway Thursday morning.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, 59-year-old John Hopkins from Lithia fatally crashed on Balm-Picnic Road, 2 miles west of County Road 39. He slammed into the 11-foot gator, which caused his vehicle to go off-road and flip into a ditch.

Hopkins was pronounced dead at the scene. The gator also died.
