SUMTER COUNTY, FL – Two vehicles were involved in a deadly head-on collision on County Road 472 in Sumter County on Monday night, WFTV reported.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation, the driver of a Nissan Altima was going east on County Road 472 at about 7 p.m. when her vehicle was struck by a Cadillac CTS that entered the eastbound lane while passing traffic near NE 42nd Boulevard.  Both vehicles rotated to the south shoulder of the roadway, and the Altima overturned multiple times.

The driver of the Altima, a 55-year-old woman from Oxford, died at the scene.  The driver of the Cadillac, a 52-year-old Ocala man, and his passenger, an 81-year-old man from Yorkville, Illinois, were seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – One driver was killed and another injured when their vehicles collided in Hernando County on Friday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A report by WFTS states that the accident happened along U.S. Highway 19 near State Road 50.  According to state troopers, a driver had pulled out of a restaurant parking lot on Commercial Way and failed to yield to the driver of a Dodge Ram headed north in the outside lane of Highway 19.

The first driver turned left into the path of the Ram, and the vehicles crashed.  The first driver, a 69-year-old woman from Brooksville, died at the scene.  The Ram driver, a 16-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A rollover accident in Marion County on Wednesday evening left a woman dead, WKMG reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a driver heading east on County Road 484 at about 5:30 p.m. lost control of her vehicle near S. Magnolia Avenue.  The vehicle went into the median before overturning several times across the westbound lanes and ending up in a line of trees.

The driver was ejected in the crash and died at the scene.  She was a 24-year-old woman from Belleview, the FHP said.  The victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time the wreck occurred.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a single-vehicle rollover accident in Lake County Monday night left a driver dead.

According to WOFL, the incident took place along County Road 46A near County Road 46.  The Florida Highway Patrol learned that the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was headed south at about 10 p.m. and ran off the roadway.

When he tried returning to the road he overcorrected, and the vehicle overturned multiple times.  The driver, a 47-year-old man from Orlando, was ejected and died after being taken to an area hospital.  He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, investigators said.

LADY LAKE, FL – Police said a multi-vehicle accident in Lady Lake last week sent two drivers to the hospital.

The Villages-News reports that the incident occurred Wednesday evening in the area of County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road shortly after 6:30 p.m.

A police investigation indicated that the driver of a sedan was headed west on County Road 466, entered the left turn lane where traffic was backed up at the light, and collided with a vehicle merging into the left turn lane.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – A multi-vehicle collision in Pasco County Friday night killed one of the drivers involved, WFTS reported.  Five other people were injured in the wreck, which occurred in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 41 and Hodza Street.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Honda Accord going west on Hodza Street went through a stop sign at the intersection at about 9:47 p.m. and was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck.  The Honda rotated in the intersection and was hit by a GMC Envoy going north on U.S. 41.

The driver of the Honda, a 61-year-old man from Weeki Wachee, died at the scene.  The Ram driver, a 51-year-old Brooksville woman, the GMC driver, a 50-year-old Brooksville man, and three passengers suffered injuries ranging from serious to minor.

DUNNELLON, FL – A collision in Marion County on Friday left two people dead and two others injured, reports the Ocala StarBanner.

The Florida Highway Patrol and Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the scene on U.S. 41 at about 5 p.m.  The FHP said the driver of a northbound Chevy pickup truck hit a puddle of water on the highway near County Road 328.  The vehicle started to hydroplane and veered right off the roadway.

The driver overcorrected to the left and the pickup re-entered U.S. 41, where it collided with a southbound Toyota Avalon.

OCALA, FL – Ocala Fire Rescue said its crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 northbound on Thursday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post at 2:28 p.m., the wreck occurred near mile marker 352 and involved a box truck, a compact SUV and a small dump truck.

Rescuers used extrication tools to free the box truck driver who had been trapped inside the vehicle.  That driver and a passenger in the SUV were taken to an area hospital as trauma alerts.  The drivers of the SUV and the dump truck were also transported for evaluation.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A collision at an intersection in Marion County Wednesday night left both drivers dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Ocala StarBanner reports authorities were called to the scene in the vicinity of U.S. 27 and Northwest 60th Avenue at about 8:24 p.m.  The FHP’s investigation determined that a Honda Civic collided with a Toyota Highlander SUV.

The Honda was heading east on U.S. 27 while the Toyota was going in the opposite direction and entered the left turn lane to turn onto 60th Avenue when the vehicles crashed.  Both drivers had the green light at the time, state troopers said.  Witnesses said the driver of the Toyota violated the Honda’s right-of-way and entered the vehicle’s path.

BELLEVIEW, FL – A collision near Belleview Santos Elementary School on Thursday left two Ocala residents dead, reports the Ocala StarBanner.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation, the driver of a Chevy Cobalt was headed northbound on U.S. 441 South at about 5 p.m. when he entered the left turn lane to go onto Southeast 95th Street.  The Cobalt then collided at the intersection with a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that was going south on U.S. 441.  The impact sent the Toyota off the roadway where it overturned onto its roof near a utility pole.  The Chevy went off the roadway onto a shoulder close to a fence near the school.

The driver of the Chevy, a 72-year-old man from Ocala, and his passenger, a 71-year-old Ocala woman, died after being transported to HCA Florida Ocala.  The driver of the Toyota,  a 20-year-old Fort McCoy man, was seriously injured and taken to the same hospital.
