ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – One driver was killed and another injured in a collision in Alachua County on Tuesday afternoon, according to WOFL.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened at about 2:50 p.m. on SW 24th Avenue.  The FHP’s investigation found that a 78-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound when she veered out of her lane near SW 117th Street.

The Tahoe struck the side of a westbound Ford pickup truck that was pulling a utility trailer.  The Tahoe also collided with the trailer’s front section.  Both vehicles ended up on separate sides of the roadway.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said two pickup trucks were involved in a fatal collision Saturday afternoon in Citrus County.

According to a WFLA report, the driver of a Dodge Ram was going east on County Road 480 when he crossed over the center line near South Meredith Avenue at about 1:45 p.m.  The Dodge collided with a westbound Toyota Tundra nearly head-on, with both vehicles ending up in the westbound lane and the shoulder.

The Toyota driver, a 56-year-old man from Weeki Wachee, died at the scene.   The Dodge was driven by a 20-year-old Weeki Wachee man, who had two men as passengers, ages 27 and 19.  There was no word on whether any of the occupants of the Dodge were injured.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A crash involving a car and a pickup truck in Marion County left one person dead and two others injured, including a toddler.

WESH reports the accident took place Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of County Road 484 and SW 95th Circle.

The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation indicated that the driver of a sedan was headed south on SW 95th Circle in the right turn lane at about 4:42 p.m.  When the sedan entered the intersection, it was struck by a pickup that was going west on County Road 484.  The impact sent the two vehicles onto the shoulder of County Road 484.

OCKLAWAHA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol and Marion County Fire Rescue were called to the scene of a fatal wreck in Marion County on Wednesday night.

A report in the Ocala StarBanner states that the crash occurred along Southeast 80th Place in Ocklawaha.

The FHP’s investigation determined that a 45-year-old Ocklawaha man was driving a Nissan pickup truck southbound shortly before 7:53 p.m. when he lost control while going around a curve.  The pickup crashed into a tree near 170th Avenue Road.

BUSHNELL, FL – A collision between two vehicles in Sumter County on Sunday night left one driver dead and the other injured, WKMG reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Kia was going north on U.S. Highway 301 in Bushnell at about 9:45 p.m. when he entered the southbound lane near County Road 700.  The Kia crashed into a Hyundai Elantra nearly head-on.

The driver of the Kia, a 49-year-old man from Dade City, died at the scene.  The driver of the Hyundai, an 18-year-old woman from Webster, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – One teenager died and four others were injured when their car crashed in Hernando County Monday night, the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to details reported by WTSP, a 17-year-old boy was driving east on Tundra Drive in Brooksville when the accident took place shortly after 10 p.m.  As he neared the intersection with Brookridge Central Boulevard the driver went off the road, where the car rotated and overturned.

The vehicle came to rest upright in a retention pond.  One passenger, an 18-year-old woman who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.  She was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A single-vehicle accident in Marion County on Sunday morning claimed the life of an elderly driver, according to a WKMG report.

The crash happened on southbound NW 80th Avenue near NW 100th Street.  The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation found a man was driving a pickup truck that was pulling a utility trailer when he drove off the road at about 10:20 a.m.  The vehicle collided with a tree on the east shoulder of the roadway.

The driver, an 82-year-old man from Ocala, died at the scene.

ALACHUA, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said an accident on Interstate 75 left a woman dead and a child injured on Monday morning, reports the Alachua Chronicle.

The FHP’s investigation determined that a 63-year-old Gainesville woman was driving a Nissan SUV north on I-75 at about 7:30 a.m. when the vehicle swerved off the right side of the roadway near the 402 mile marker.  The SUV struck a large tree and overturned.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her passenger, a 3-month-old boy, sustained minor injuries and was taken to UF Health Shands for treatment.  They were both restrained with a seat belt or child restraint.

GAINESVILLE, FL – Authorities said a man trying to elude police crashed into a Gainesville Police Department vehicle late Tuesday night.

According to a WCJB report, the incident began when Gainesville police officers attempted a traffic stop on 21-year-old Robert Rodriguez on Northeast Third Place at 11 p.m.  Police said Rodriguez took off and fled onto Northeast Waldo Road.  At that point he collided with a Gainesville patrol vehicle that was waiting at a red light.

An officer inside the patrol vehicle was trapped and extricated by firefighters.  The officer was treated and released from the hospital after sustaining injuries that were not life-threatening.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A single-vehicle accident in Sumter County early Sunday morning left a driver dead, WKMG reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the wreck in the area of County Road 616 and County Road 48.  The FHP’s investigation found that the driver of a Ford Taurus was headed north at about 12:53 a.m. when he went through the intersection without stopping and crashed into a tree.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from Bushnell, was pronounced dead at the scene.
