SUMTER COUNTY, FL – State troopers said an elderly man died after his motorcycle was involved in an accident in Sumter County.

According to a report by the Villages-News, the accident happened Saturday morning in the area of County Road 673 and County Road 683D in Bushnell.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 80-year-old motorcyclist was riding near the Sumter Oaks Escapees RV Park at about 7:25 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, causing the motorcycle to overturn.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL – Two people were injured in a collision involving two motorcycles in Citrus County on Sunday morning, state troopers said.

According to the Citrus Chronicle, the crash occurred on U.S. 19 near West Ponce De Leon Boulevard near the Hernando County border at about 11:35 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man driving northbound on a Spyder motorcycle veered between lanes before crashing into the back of a Harley Davidson Tristar motorcycle also going north, causing the Spyder to overturn.  Witnesses had seen the Spyder driver trying to avoid debris in the roadway.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was killed when his motorcycle crashed Sunday morning on Powell Road in Hernando County, according to WTSP.

State troopers said the victim was going west near Falcon Ridge Trail in Brooksville when he drove off the road shortly before 10:40 p.m.  The motorcycle overturned and slammed into a fence.

The rider, a 60-year-old man from Spring Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A man died in a motorcycle accident in Lake County on Saturday morning, state troopers said.

According to the Leesburg News, the accident happened on County Road 450 near West 9th Avenue in Umatilla at 10:41 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 64-year-old man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he was unable to negotiate a left curve.

The motorcycle went off the roadway and overturned on the grass shoulder of the roadway.  The motorcycle rider, a resident of Deland, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, investigators said.

INVERNESS, FL – State troopers said a suspected drunk driver was involved in an accident in Citrus County that injured two people, WTVT reports.

The two victims were on a motorcycle on US 41 in Inverness Saturday night when the crash occurred near East Tower Road at about 10:40 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man driving under the influence was attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot from the highway when he entered the path of the motorcycle.  The vehicles collided and a 37-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadway.  Both were seriously injured.

OCALA, FL – The Ocala Police Department released details of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on College Road Saturday night.

According to investigators, the driver of a Chevy Suburban was leaving a restaurant and attempting to travel east on SW College Road when the vehicle pulled directly into the path of a motorcycle going west in the center lane.

The front of the motorcycle hit the left rear side of the Suburban, and both the motorcycle driver and passenger were ejected. The motorcycle driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at 9:15 a.m. the following morning at an area hospital.  The passenger was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.  Both riders were reported to have been wearing their helmets.  The occupants of the Suburban were not injured.

OCALA, FL – Police in Ocala released details of a deadly motorcycle accident that occurred on Monday morning.

In a Facebook post, police said the incident took place in the vicinity of South Pine Avenue and Southeast 17th Street at about 6:50 a.m.

The driver of a dump truck was going north on South Pine Avenue and entered the left turn lane at the same time that a southbound motorcycle was approaching the same intersection.

SPRING HILL, FL – Authorities said a motorcyclist was killed and his passenger injured in a collision with a pickup truck in Spring Hill early Monday morning.

According to WTSP, the 50-year-old motorcyclist was going west on County Line Road shortly after midnight at the same time the pickup was headed east on County Line Road in the left turn lane.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of the pickup turned left into the path of the motorcycle at the intersection with Waterfall Drive, causing a collision.  The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead of his injuries at an area hospital.  A 50-year-old woman who was his passenger was hospitalized in critical condition.  Both are Spring Hill residents.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – Authorities said they have made an arrest in connection with a recent accident in Sumter County that left a motorcyclist dead, the Villages-News reports.

32-year-old Emmanuel Quesada Fonseca was arrested on a charge of driving without a license in a case involving death. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Fonseca was driving a truck towing a trailer south on Interstate 75 in Wildwood on May 19 when one of the trailer’s tire rims came loose and rolled into the path of a man riding a motorcycle along with three fellow bikers.

When the motorcycle struck the rim, the rider was thrown from the bike and landed on the roadway.  The victim, a 55-year-old man from Acworth, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – A multi-vehicle accident in Hernando County last week left a motorcyclist dead, reports The Hernando Sun.

The incident occurred Thursday in the area of U.S. 98 and Mondon Hill Road at about 5:24 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a pickup truck that was headed west on U.S. 98 failed to stop at a red light while approaching the intersection.

The pickup entered the path of a motorcycle, causing the vehicles to collide. The motorcycle was then redirected and crashed into a sedan that was stopped in the eastbound inside lane of U.S. 98.
