If you have never traveled abroad and are planning a trip soon, there are probably many questions going through your brain. Luck for you, our personal injury attorneys at Whittel & Melton are well versed in international holidays and we have some great non-injury-related tips that can help your trip go smoothly.
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water before you head out on your vacation. Drink plenty of water once you arrive at your destination, just make sure that whatever water you are drinking is safe for consumption. In countries where the tap water is unsafe to drink, bottled water is the best option.
- Use bright luggage. This helps you identify your bag quicker and will help you get through customs swiftly so that you can get on with your vacation. If you do not have bright-colored luggage, consider adding colorful stickers or a fun tag or ribbon that stands out so that you can easily identify your luggage.
- Bring a flip flop or sandal for those long flights. You do not want to be walking around the plan and using the restrooms in your socks or bare feet.
- Start your vacation time early. Set your clock at home to the local time where you are travelling a few days before you leave so that you can get used to that schedule ahead of time and do not need to waste any time catching up once you arrive.
- Check your passport and visas. You want to do this several months before your vacation so that you have all your ducks in a row. Every country has different requirements for travelers, so figure those out in advance. Maybe you need a COVID test or proof of sufficient funds. You may also need to show you have a return ticket. You may also have other requirements you must meet before you can leave the country and return home. Make sure you are aware of everything that you may need to have and do before you travel abroad.
