MARION COUNTY, FL – Authorities responded to two fatal car accidents in Marion County over the weekend, the Ocala StarBanner reports.

The first incident occurred on Friday on County Road 314A, where a 40-year-old Silver Springs woman drove off the road on CR 314A while driving a Toyota Scion shortly before 8 p.m. When the car veered onto the east shoulder she overcorrected to the left, went across both lanes of the roadway and crashed into a tree.  The woman, whose name was not released, was extricated from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash disrupted traffic through the area for several hours.

The other single-vehicle accident took place early Saturday morning on County Road 484 near Southwest 190th Avenue in Dunnellon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a Toyota Corolla was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway and hit a fence, a guidewire and a tree.

A man who was a passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The man who was driving was listed in stable condition after being transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital.  Both were reported to be Dunnellon residents in their early 20s.

The FHP is investigating to determine the cause of both accidents.
