News: 2 injured when fleeing driver crashes in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, FL – A driver attempting to flee from law enforcement authorities was involved in a crash in Ocala on Sunday, WCJB reports.

Police said the incident began when deputies attempted a traffic stop on the driver of a stolen Jeep Cherokee in Silver Springs Shore.  The driver, identified as 24-year-old Jah’Kudo Gibbons, reportedly pulled into a gas station before speeding away on Southeast Maricamp Road heading towards Ocala.

Deputies set out in pursuit in what became a high-speed chase, with Gibbons said to have been driving at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

He eventually t-boned another car in the vicinity of Maricamp Road and Southeast 58th Avenue.  Gibbons and the other driver were seriously injured and taken to an area hospital.
