PASCO COUNTY, FL – A collision at an intersection in New Port Richey Wednesday night killed a motorcycle rider, Pasco News Online reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the multi-vehicle accident, which happened shortly before 7 p.m. in the area of State Road 54 and Riverrun Road.

The FHP said the driver of a Nissan SUV was trying to turn from SR-54 onto Riverrun Road when the vehicle entered the path of a westbound Yamaha motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and was then struck by a Toyota Corolla going west on SR-54.  The motorcycle rider, a 50-year-old man from Holiday, died at the scene.

The Nissan driver, a 61-year-old Holiday woman, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.  The Toyota driver, a 57-year-old man from New Port Richey, was not injured.

The incident shut down SR-54 for several hours for the crash investigation.
