LAKE COUNTY, FL – A collision on Florida’s Turnpike in Lake County Thursday morning sent both drivers to the hospital, WKMG reported.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the incident in the turnpike’s southbound lanes near County Road 470. State troopers said the driver of a 2010 Hyundai Tucson, a 49-year-old woman, was critically injured and transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 2015 Ford F-250, was a 28-year-old man from Clearwater. He was also hospitalized but no details were released on his condition.
The wreck shut down the southbound lanes of the turnpike, causing traffic delays through the area. The FHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
