DADE CITY, FL – One person was killed and another injured in a collision involving a wrong-way driver in Pasco County on Friday morning, Pasco News Online reports.
The crash, involving a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer, occurred on U.S. 301 in Dade City shortly before 5 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was driving a GMC Sierra south in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a northbound tractor-trailer near Mickler Road.
The Sierra driver, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver, a 41-year-old Haines City man, was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Authorities closed U.S. 301 in both directions for the accident response and investigation.
