DUNNELLON, FL – A head-on collision in Marion County Friday morning left one driver dead and another hospitalized, WKMG reports.
One of the drivers was an 89-year-old man who may have suffered a medical episode, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The FHP said that man, a Dunnellon resident, was driving an SUV south on State Road 200 near County Road 484 at about 7:30 p.m. An investigation indicated that the man veered into the direct path of an SUV going north, causing the two vehicles to collide.
The driver of the second SUV, a 43-year-old Ocala woman, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The Dunnellon man was hospitalized in critical condition.
Both drivers were believed to have been wearing their seat belts at the time of the wreck.
