News: Man, 74, fatally struck by car while walking across U.S. 441

SUMMERFIELD, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a pedestrian fatality in Marion County Saturday morning, WKMG reports.

The FHP said a pedestrian was trying to walk across U.S. 441 near Summerfield when the incident happened at about 6:45 a.m.  The victim, a 74-year-old man from Sebring, was struck and killed by a Kia Forte going southbound near SE 173rd Street.  The vehicle ended up on the shoulder of the roadway.

The woman driving the Kia was not injured in the collision.

State troopers were assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Marion County Fire Rescue.
