News: Motorcycle accident in Summerfield kills 50-year-old man from Maine

SUMMERFIELD, FL – A motorcycle accident in Marion County last Monday night, March 3, left a rider dead, according to the Villages News.

The crash occurred on U.S. 301 near County Road 42 in Summerfield, near The Villages.  The Florida Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist was riding on U.S. 301 shortly before 11:30 p.m. when he failed to maintain a lane and collided with a concrete curb.  The rider lost control, and the motorcycle overturned, then landed on the center median of U.S. 301.

The motorcyclist, a 50-year-old man from Penobscot, Maine, was pronounced dead after being taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.  He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the FHP said.
