MARION COUNTY, FL – A motorcycle rider was killed in a collision with an SUV in Marion County on Sunday night, WFTV reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the motorcyclist was heading north on US-441 near Ocala when the incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m.    The FHP’s investigation indicated that the driver of the SUV was going west on NW 95th Street and pulled out from a stop sign.

As the SUV driver was trying to cross over US-441, the vehicle was struck on the left side by the motorcycle, causing both vehicles to overturn.

The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old man from Ocala, was ejected from the bike and died later at an area hospital.  The SUV driver, a 29-year-old Ocala man, suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

State troopers are continuing to investigate the cause of the wreck.
