HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said three people were injured, one critically, in a multi-vehicle wreck in the Brooksville area Wednesday morning.
According to the Citrus County Chronicle, the crash happened in the vicinity of U.S. 98 and Lake Lindsey Road at about 7:30 a.m. State troopers said a woman was driving an SUV east on Lake Lindsey Road when she entered the intersection from a stop sign and a flashing red signal.
The vehicle entered into the path of a semitractor-trailer going south on U.S. 98 and the SUV was struck by the semi. The impact caused the SUV to collide with two pickup trucks that were stopped in the left turn lane of U.S. 98. One of the pickups then flipped onto its roof.
The SUV driver, a 39-year-old woman from Weeki Wachee, was critically injured and taken to an area hospital. Two men in the pickup that overturned, a 56-year-old from Brooksville and a 55-year-old from Spring Hill, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the other pickup, a 29-year-old Brooksville man, and the driver of the semi, a 67-year-old Floral City man, were not injured.
