News: Ocala man riding bicycle fatally struck by hit-and-run driver

DAVENPORT, FL – State troopers are searching for the driver responsible for the death of an Ocala man who was riding a bicycle last week, WKMG reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which took place March 26 on Davenport Boulevard near U.S. 27.  The FHP said the bicyclist was riding toward Davenport at about 11:30 p.m. when he was overtaken and hit by a black Dodge Challenger heading eastbound.

The 27-year-old bicyclist died after being transported to an area hospital.  Investigators said the Dodge driver left the scene of the crash.

Anyone with further information regarding the hit-and-run was asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crime Stoppers.
