HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A pedestrian was hospitalized last week after being struck by an SUV on State Road 200 in Hernando, state troopers said.
According to the Citrus Chronicle, the incident took place Wednesday afternoon in the area of Wagonwheel Trail and Lance Terrace.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a 37-year-old Hernando man was driving south in a Cadillac Escalade UT when he noticed a truck in front of him stopped and preparing to turn. The Cadillac driver veered into the center shared turn lane, and the vehicle’s side view mirror hit a woman crossing the street. The driver continued south, went onto a shoulder, overturned and struck a stop sign and sidewalk railing.
The pedestrian, a 37-year-old woman from Crystal River, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center with injuries described as non-incapacitating. The FHP said the driver may have been injured but refused transport to a hospital. He was charged with improper passing.
