HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A car accident in Hernando County late Wednesday night left two people dead and four others injured. reports the Citrus County Chronicle.

The Florida Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided in the vicinity of U.S. 41 and County Road 581.  According to the FHP’s report, a man was driving a sedan north in the left lane of U.S. 41 and turned into the path of another vehicle at the intersection with C.R. 581, resulting in the crash.  The second vehicle overturned and both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 79-year-old Homosassa man, and a passenger in the second vehicle, a 68-year-old woman from Floral City, were pronounced dead at area hospitals.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a pickup truck and an SUV were involved in a fatal collision in Alachua County on Tuesday night.

According to WCJB, the crash took place on U.S. 441 near Northwest 239th Street in High Springs.  The FHP said a man was driving a pickup truck on U.S. 441 at about 6:20 p.m.  He swerved into the opposite lane and collided with an SUV driven by a 59-year-old woman.

The driver of the pickup, a 71-year-old Fort White man, was thrown from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time.  No other injuries were reported.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A young boy died after an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle in Marion County, according to the Ocala StarBanner.

The crash happened Sunday afternoon in the vicinity of Southwest 80th Avenue and 151st Place.  The Florida Highway Patrol said a 10-year-old boy from Dunnellon was riding an ATV when the vehicle overturned on him.

The boy was pronounced dead after being taken to AdventHealth TimberRidge ER.  The FHP is investigating the cause of the incident.

OCALA, FL – Ocala Fire Rescue reports a driver was hospitalized following a rollover accident in Ocala on Monday afternoon.

First responders were dispatched to the intersection of SW College Road and SW 27th Avenue after the incident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m.

They found a red SUV on its roof blocking the southbound lanes of SW 27th Avenue, and a sedan parked at a nearby establishment.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – Five people were injured, two seriously, in a car wreck in Pasco County Saturday night.

A report by WFLA states that the incident occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near San Antonio.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a sedan was changing lanes at high speed on I-75 at about 10:30 p.m. and lost control of the vehicle near mile marker 284.  The sedan rotated across the interstate, rear-ended another sedan, and then caught fire.  The second sedan overturned due to the impact.

Two male passengers in the first vehicle, ages 19 and 16, were seriously injured.  The 19-year-old male driver and a 20-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries.  All the occupants were from Jacksonville.

WALDO, FL – A driver was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident in Alachua County Friday morning, authorities said.

A report by WCJB stated that the crash happened on northeast US Highway 301 near Waldo.  Investigators determined that a vehicle went off the roadway, flipped multiple times, and came to rest against a tree.

The driver was taken to an area trauma center and was listed in serious condition.

ORANGE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said it is searching for the driver involved in a crash in Orange County that left a motorcyclist dead.

According to WKMG, the incident occurred Thursday morning on State Road 520 near State Road 528 at about 5:20 a.m.  The FHP said the driver of a BMW was headed west in an eastbound lane of State Road 520.

The car struck the front of a motorcycle and the rider was ejected from the bike.  The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene.

HUDSON, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in Pasco County early Wednesday morning.

WFLA reports the victim was walking in the travel lane of Bolton Avenue east of US-19 near Hudson when the accident happened shortly after midnight.

The pedestrian, a 51-year-old man, was in the path of a van nearing Omaha Street and was struck by the van.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

GAINESVILLE, FL – Police in Gainesville are searching for the driver responsible for a crash that killed a bicycle rider, according to a report by WGFL.

The bicyclist, a male, was struck from behind by a vehicle while riding south on the 3300 block of South Main Street.  The driver involved then left the scene.

The Gainesville Police Department said that based on debris found in the roadway, the vehicle they are now looking for is a silver Volvo, either a sedan or an SUV.  Evidence indicated the driver may have been going about 45 miles per hour at the time of the collision.

PALM HARBOR, FL – A man is under arrest in connection with a fatal car accident that occurred in Palm Harbor on Feb. 19, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, 19-year-old Chase Cannone is facing charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in the case.  Investigators said Cannone was driving a Ford Mustang at high speed on Alderman Road near Bentley Drive when a Hyundai Accent making a turn entered his path and the vehicles collided.

The driver of the Accent, a 32-year-old New Port Richey man, and his passenger, a 30-year-old Palm Harbor woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.  Cannone, a Clearwater resident, was seriously injured.
