EAST LAKE, FL – Authorities say an accident in Pinellas County on Thursday morning injured three bicyclists from Palm Harbor, all in their 60s.

The Tampa Bay Times reports the collision took place on East Lake Road near Trinity Boulevard at about 8:30 a.m.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 16-year-old New Port Richey girl was driving a sedan south on East Lake Road when she stopped in the left turn lane and turned into the path of two bicycles, a tandem and a single-rider bike.

The bicycles, which had been going north in a designated bicycle lane, collided with the right side of the sedan.  A 65-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman who were on the tandem bicycle and a 64-year-old man riding alone were all seriously injured and hospitalized.  The driver of the car was not injured.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – One person was killed and several others were injured when their vehicles collided in Hernando County on Sunday morning, reports the Citrus County Chronicle.

The incident took place near the intersection of U.S. 98 and Lake Lindsey Road at about 11:12 a.m.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man driving a van was approaching the intersection and entered the path of a pickup truck under a flashing red traffic signal.  The pickup truck crashed head-on into the left side of the van, causing the van to collide with a tree.

The van driver, a 67-year-old man from Inverness, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The 32-year-old Brooksville man driving the pickup truck and his four passengers, a woman and three children, sustained minor injuries.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A man died in a motorcycle accident in Lake County on Saturday morning, state troopers said.

According to the Leesburg News, the accident happened on County Road 450 near West 9th Avenue in Umatilla at 10:41 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 64-year-old man was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he was unable to negotiate a left curve.

The motorcycle went off the roadway and overturned on the grass shoulder of the roadway.  The motorcycle rider, a resident of Deland, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, investigators said.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said two vehicles were involved in a fatal crash on State Road 50 in Hernando County early Monday morning.

According to The Free Press, the incident happened east of Mckinney Sink Road at about 2:19 a.m.  Investigators believe that a 63-year-old Spring Hill man was driving a van westbound on SR-50 when he entered the eastbound lane for an unknown reason.

The van crashed nearly head-on into a car driven eastbound by a 22-year-old woman from Spring Hill, causing both vehicles to rotate to a stop.

WALDO, FL – Two people were seriously injured in a collision in Alachua County on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

According to the Alachua Chronicle, firefighters were headed to a separate incident at about 4:15 p.m. when they saw a column of black smoke rising on US Highway 301.

Alachua County Fire Rescue Engine 40 arrived to find that two vehicles had been involved in a T-bone style collision at the intersection of US 301 and NE County Road 225, with one of the vehicles engulfed in flames.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A train and a semi-truck were involved in a collision in Marion County Wednesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to WGFL, the accident happened along the railroad tracks near County Road 318 and NE 24th Avenue at about 10:45 a.m.  The FHP responded to the scene along with Marion County Fire Rescue crews, and found that the driver of the semi-truck had sustained minor injuries while the truck had some front-end damage.  No other injuries were reported.

The incident shut down the eastbound lane of County Road 318 for nearly three hours before reopening at about 2 p.m.  There was no immediate word on what led to the crash.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – Pasco Fire Rescue reported it was at the scene of a fatal ATV rollover accident on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place in the area of Fog Hollow Drive and Solitude Drive in Wesley Chapel, according to WTSP.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 61-year-old Wesley Chapel man was driving an ATV when he was not able to negotiate a curve properly and the vehicle overturned, ejecting both occupants.   The ATV fell on top of the driver’s 62-year-old passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver was flown to an area hospital as a trauma alert with serious injuries.  The names of the victims were not released.

DADE CITY, FL – State troopers are continuing their search for the driver who left the scene of a crash that killed a pedestrian in Pasco County, WFLA reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said it is seeking out tips from the public in solving the incident that occurred April 17 along US 301 at about 3:30 a.m.  According to investigators, a driver’s vehicle went off the roadway, hit a traffic sign and then struck a woman who was walking along the grass shoulder of US 301.

The victim, a 49-year-old Dade City woman, suffered fatal injuries and troopers said the driver involved did not stop to help.

INVERNESS, FL – State troopers said a suspected drunk driver was involved in an accident in Citrus County that injured two people, WTVT reports.

The two victims were on a motorcycle on US 41 in Inverness Saturday night when the crash occurred near East Tower Road at about 10:40 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a man driving under the influence was attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot from the highway when he entered the path of the motorcycle.  The vehicles collided and a 37-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadway.  Both were seriously injured.

BUSHNELL, FL – Two truck drivers were injured when their vehicles collided in Sumter County Friday morning, according to WKMG.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the two semi-trucks were both going south on Interstate 75 in Bushnell when the incident occurred at about 8:48 a.m.

As one truck moved from the center lane to the outside lane near mile marker 313, it hit the back of the trailer being towed by the other truck.
