ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – One driver was killed and another injured in a collision in Alachua County on Tuesday afternoon, according to WOFL.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened at about 2:50 p.m. on SW 24th Avenue.  The FHP’s investigation found that a 78-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound when she veered out of her lane near SW 117th Street.

The Tahoe struck the side of a westbound Ford pickup truck that was pulling a utility trailer.  The Tahoe also collided with the trailer’s front section.  Both vehicles ended up on separate sides of the roadway.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – An investigation is underway into a fatal accident that took place in Alachua County on Friday morning, according to WCJB.

The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene on County Road 219A southbound at about 4:50 a.m.  Responding state troopers arrived to find that a 2001 Mazda truck had gone off the roadway and overturned.

The driver, a 47-year-old Hawthorne man, died at the scene.  He was not wearing a seat belt at the time. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a crash in Alachua County on Sunday afternoon left seven people injured, the Gainesville Sun reports.

State troopers and rescue crews responded to the scene on Interstate 75 at the County Road 241 overpass at about 3:25 p.m.

It was determined that the incident began when the driver of a pickup truck tried to pass an SUV pulling a car trailer in the southbound lanes of I-75.  The left side of the pickup hit the right side of the SUV’s trailer, causing the SUV to collide with a tractor-trailer that was parked along the roadway at mile marker 396.

WALDO, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver trying to elude law enforcement authorities was involved in a fatal crash in Alachua County early Saturday morning.

The Gainesville Sun reports the incident began when the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office requested the FHP’s help in pursuing a Honda CRV recently stolen from Alachua County.

State troopers said some of the vehicle’s occupants appeared to be wearing ski masks, and that the Honda exited U.S. 301 onto State Road 24 in the Waldo area.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – A two-vehicle collision in Alachua County left one of the drivers dead and the other injured, reports the Main Street Daily News.

The wreck took place Friday night on State Road 45 at 7:38 p.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a southbound Ford SUV crashed into a Chevrolet pickup truck going north on the roadway.

The driver of the pickup, a 29-year-old woman from Newberry, died after being taken to UF Health ER.  The SUV driver, a 45-year-old Newberry woman, was seriously injured.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said two vehicles were involved in a deadly collision in Alachua County on Saturday afternoon.

The Main Street Daily News reports the crash happened on Interstate 75 southbound at about 3:08 p.m. The FHP’s investigation found that a man driving a Subaru sedan in the middle lane lost control of the vehicle near the Micanopy exit at mile marker 374.  The Subaru struck a Ford box truck traveling in the inside lane of the interstate.

The box truck then hit a guardrail and the Subaru, causing the Subaru to overturn onto the shoulder and crash into a tree.  The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two passengers in the vehicle, a man and woman from Tennessee, suffered minor injuries and were taken to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville.  No one in the Subaru was wearing a seat belt, state troopers said.  The driver of the box truck, a 29-year-old man from Gainesville, was not injured in the wreck.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – A car and a tractor-trailer were involved in a fatal collision in Alachua County early Wednesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A report in the Gainesville Sun states the crash occurred on Interstate 75 northbound at mile marker 401 near the exit for U.S. 441.

The FHP said a woman was driving a sedan north on I-75 in the middle lane shortly after 2 a.m. when she turned into the path of a northbound semi-truck while trying to reach the scene of a previous crash.

GAINESVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said two pickup trucks were involved in a deadly collision on Sunday evening in Alachua County.

The Main Street Daily News reports the accident happened on State Road 24 near NE 55th Terrace.  The FHP determined that a man was driving a pickup south shortly before 6 p.m. when he crossed over the center median and collided head-on with a northbound pickup.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 23-year-old man from Gainesville, was killed in the wreck.  The driver of the second vehicle, a 43-year-old man, and his two passengers, a 44-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.  The three are from Cordova, Maryland.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – A motorist died following a car accident in Alachua County early Sunday morning, according to the Gainesville Sun.

The incident  happened on Interstate 75 at mile marker 394 at about 12:10 a.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation found a driver going north on the interstate went off the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed.

The driver, a 34-year-old woman from Fort White, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene.  No one else was in the car at the time, and no other vehicles were involved.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol and local first responders were called to the scene of a fatal car accident in Alachua County Tuesday night, according to the Main Street Daily News.

The crash occurred at the intersection of County Road 234 and County Road 2082 at 11:45 p.m.  The FHP’s investigation found that a 31-year-old man was driving an SUV eastbound on CR-234 when he failed to stop at the intersection.

The vehicle crashed into two large trees and caught fire, and the driver was thrown from the SUV.  The driver, an Ocala resident, was pronounced dead at the scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue.
