HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said three people were injured, one critically, in a multi-vehicle wreck in the Brooksville area Wednesday morning.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, the crash happened in the vicinity of U.S. 98 and Lake Lindsey Road at about 7:30 a.m.  State troopers said a woman was driving an SUV east on Lake Lindsey Road when she entered the intersection from a stop sign and a flashing red signal.

The vehicle entered into the path of a semitractor-trailer going south on U.S. 98 and the SUV was struck by the semi.  The impact caused the SUV to collide with two pickup trucks that were stopped in the left turn lane of U.S. 98.  One of the pickups then flipped onto its roof.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was at the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in Brooksville on Thursday night.

According to The Free Press, a woman was struck by a pickup truck near the intersection of East Jefferson Street and Asmara Street shortly before 8:30 p.m.

State troopers determined that the 72-year-old victim was walking east across the intersection of Asmara Street when she was hit by the pickup truck that was heading north.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver died after crashing into a home in Hernando County Wednesday morning.

According to WFTS, the accident happened on Fulton Avenue near Fox Sparrow Avenue in Brooksville shortly before noon. State troopers determined that a 57-year-old man was speeding in a Toyota Prius while heading west when he lost control of his car on a curve in the road.

The car went off the roadway, hit an embankment and a tree, and then plowed into a home on Fulton Avenue before catching fire.  The motorist, a Port Richey resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two people in the house were not injured.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – A car and a tractor-trailer were involved in a fatal collision in Hernando County last week, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to WFTS, a 38-year-old Brooksville man was driving a sedan west on SR-50 when the incident took place Wednesday night at about 11:15 p.m.  State troopers said the driver of a tractor-trailer was heading east on SR-50, made a U-turn at the intersection with Hale Avenue, and entered the path of the sedan.

The sedan collided with the trailer being towed by the semi.  The sedan driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The semi driver, a 62-year-old Brooksville man, was not injured.

BROOKSVILLE,FL – The Florida Highway Patrol released details of a fatal pickup truck crash that occurred on Sunday afternoon.

The Suncoast News reports the accident happened on Preston Road at about 3:37 p.m.  According to state troopers, a 54-year-old man was driving south in a Ford F-350 pickup when he lost control of the vehicle near Outback Way.   The pickup went onto the shoulder of the roadway, then collided with  a wooden pole, a mailbox and a utility pole before rolling over.

The driver, a Brooksville resident, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said a deadly car accident caused a power outage on Sunday.

The sheriff’s office posted on Facebook that the incident shut down Preston Road between Mondon Hill Road and Richbarn Road.  WFLA reported that a driver was killed after crashing into an electrical pole in Brooksville.

The accident reportedly left over 50 people without power in the area.  Utility crews arrived at the scene to repair the damage and restore power to those affected.  Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a man was killed when his motorcycle crashed Sunday morning on Powell Road in Hernando County, according to WTSP.

State troopers said the victim was going west near Falcon Ridge Trail in Brooksville when he drove off the road shortly before 10:40 p.m.  The motorcycle overturned and slammed into a fence.

The rider, a 60-year-old man from Spring Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – A multi-vehicle accident in Hernando County last week left a motorcyclist dead, reports The Hernando Sun.

The incident occurred Thursday in the area of U.S. 98 and Mondon Hill Road at about 5:24 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a pickup truck that was headed west on U.S. 98 failed to stop at a red light while approaching the intersection.

The pickup entered the path of a motorcycle, causing the vehicles to collide. The motorcycle was then redirected and crashed into a sedan that was stopped in the eastbound inside lane of U.S. 98.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A 52-year-old man from St. Petersburg was hit and killed by a driver in an SUV in Brooksville early Thursday morning.

Around 5 a.m., a 58-year-old Ridge woman was traveling westbound on Cortez Boulevard (SR-50) in a Dodge Durango. She struck the man as he was in the roadway near Cedar Lane, reports The Free Press.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – A collision claimed the life of at least one person near the Church of God of Prophecy in Brooksville early Wednesday morning.

According to WFLA, the crash occurred in the 2400 block of Dan Brown Hill Road near Hayman Road shortly after midnight.
