GAINESVILLE, FL – Police in Gainesville are searching for the driver responsible for a crash that killed a bicycle rider, according to a report by WGFL.

The bicyclist, a male, was struck from behind by a vehicle while riding south on the 3300 block of South Main Street.  The driver involved then left the scene.

The Gainesville Police Department said that based on debris found in the roadway, the vehicle they are now looking for is a silver Volvo, either a sedan or an SUV.  Evidence indicated the driver may have been going about 45 miles per hour at the time of the collision.

GAINESVILLE, FL – A man was killed when he was hit by a vehilce while riding a motorized bicycle northeast of Gainesville on Monday morning.

According to Main St. Daily News, a 28-year-old Starke man was riding the bike on the shoulder of State Route 24 near NE 127th Street when he was hit by 1998-2004 era Ford pickup or a 2000-04 Ford Excursion.

The victim was ejected from the bicycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

GAINESVILLE FL – A man was fatally struck by a vehicle in northwest Gainesville while riding his bicycle this morning.

According to WCJB, the victim was riding on Waldo Road near the intersection with Northeast 127th Street when he was hit by an unspecified vehicle.

The bicyclist, an unidentified 28-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
