HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A pickup truck accident in Hernando County Friday morning left an elderly driver dead, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A report by The Free Press stated that the accident happened at the intersection of Snow Hill Road and Snow Memorial Highway shortly before 7:30 a.m.  The FHP said a 76-year-old woman was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck east on Snow Hill Road but failed to stop completely for a posted stop sign.  A 26-year-old Dover man driving a Ford F-550 south on Snow Memorial Highway and crashed into the side of the pickup truck.

The pickup truck overturned and struck a tree.  The Ford F-150 driver, a Hernando resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – A woman died after being struck in Brooksville by a driver who left the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to a report by WTSP, the 47-year-old victim was hit by a vehicle in the area of Citrus Way and Glory Lane on Monday, and suffered fatal injuries.

Investigators said debris from the crash scene helped them identify the vehicle involved as a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – A car accident in Hernando County late Wednesday night left two people dead and four others injured. reports the Citrus County Chronicle.

The Florida Highway Patrol said two vehicles collided in the vicinity of U.S. 41 and County Road 581.  According to the FHP’s report, a man was driving a sedan north in the left lane of U.S. 41 and turned into the path of another vehicle at the intersection with C.R. 581, resulting in the crash.  The second vehicle overturned and both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.

The driver of the first vehicle, a 79-year-old Homosassa man, and a passenger in the second vehicle, a 68-year-old woman from Floral City, were pronounced dead at area hospitals.

WEEKI WACHEE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver hit two pedestrians in Hernando County early Saturday morning, killing one of them.

A report by Fox 13 Tampa Bay stated that the incident took place on Marvelwood Road near Osprey Avenue in Weeki Wachee just before 1 a.m.

The FHP said a man and a woman walking in the roadway were hit by a northbound vehicle driven by a 19-year-old woman.  The man, a 44-year-old man from Weeki Wachee, suffered fatal injuries.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a single-vehicle accident in Hernando County early Thursday morning left a driver dead.

WFLA reports the crash occurred on CR-572 east of Crum Road at about 4:30 a.m.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Brooksville man was driving a truck westbound when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The vehicle went off the road, hit a mailbox, went back across the roadway and collided with a tree.  The 68-year-old driver was declared dead after being transported to an area hospital.

TAMPA, FL – Two elderly Hernando County residents were killed when their vehicle was involved in an accident Sunday morning in Brooksville, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to the Hernando Sun, the two were in a pickup truck heading west on Hayman Road near Batten Road when the incident happened at about 10 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the pickup went off the roadway for an unknown reason, and then crashed into a culvert, a fence and a tree.  The vehicle continued across the travel lanes of the road and ended up on the south shoulder.

BROOKSVILLE, Fl — State troopers said a pedestrian accident in Brooksville Sunday morning claimed the life of a 3-year-old boy.

According to WTSP, the incident took place on Evening Star Avenue near Broad Street at about 8 a.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said that the boy and his parent were walking west across Evening Star Avenue when the child was hit by a southbound Lincoln Town Car towing a utility trailer.  The victim was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital.

Troopers said the vehicle came to a controlled stop following the incident.  The driver was not injured.

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said three people were injured, one critically, in a multi-vehicle wreck in the Brooksville area Wednesday morning.

According to the Citrus County Chronicle, the crash happened in the vicinity of U.S. 98 and Lake Lindsey Road at about 7:30 a.m.  State troopers said a woman was driving an SUV east on Lake Lindsey Road when she entered the intersection from a stop sign and a flashing red signal.

The vehicle entered into the path of a semitractor-trailer going south on U.S. 98 and the SUV was struck by the semi.  The impact caused the SUV to collide with two pickup trucks that were stopped in the left turn lane of U.S. 98.  One of the pickups then flipped onto its roof.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was at the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in Brooksville on Thursday night.

According to The Free Press, a woman was struck by a pickup truck near the intersection of East Jefferson Street and Asmara Street shortly before 8:30 p.m.

State troopers determined that the 72-year-old victim was walking east across the intersection of Asmara Street when she was hit by the pickup truck that was heading north.

BROOKSVILLE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver died after crashing into a home in Hernando County Wednesday morning.

According to WFTS, the accident happened on Fulton Avenue near Fox Sparrow Avenue in Brooksville shortly before noon. State troopers determined that a 57-year-old man was speeding in a Toyota Prius while heading west when he lost control of his car on a curve in the road.

The car went off the roadway, hit an embankment and a tree, and then plowed into a home on Fulton Avenue before catching fire.  The motorist, a Port Richey resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Two people in the house were not injured.
