LADY LAKE, FL – Police said a multi-vehicle accident in Lady Lake last week sent two drivers to the hospital.

The Villages-News reports that the incident occurred Wednesday evening in the area of County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road shortly after 6:30 p.m.

A police investigation indicated that the driver of a sedan was headed west on County Road 466, entered the left turn lane where traffic was backed up at the light, and collided with a vehicle merging into the left turn lane.

LADY LAKE, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a hit-and-run driver struck two pedestrians in Lake County on Sunday night, killing one of them.

According to the Villages-News, the two were walking northbound on the shoulder of Rolling Acres Road near West Lakeview Street in Lady Lake when the incident took place at about 9:47 p.m.

The FHP said the driver of a Jeep Cherokee went off the roadway and hit the pedestrians, and then fled the scene.

LADY LAKE, FL – Police in Lady Lake were at the scene of a crash that critically injured a motorcycle rider Sunday morning.

The Villages-News reports the accident took place at the intersection of County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road at about 11 a.m.

According to investigators, the driver of an SUV going east on County Road 466 made a left turn onto Rolling Acres Road and entered the path of a motorcyclist who was driving west on County Road 466.

LADY LAKE, FL – A man and his wife died after being struck by a driver in an SUV outside of a grocery store in Lake County on Saturday.

According to the Villages-News, 89-year-old Wilfred Maybee was driving a Lexus RX 350 in the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie off Avenida Central at the Spanish Springs Town Square. The elderly couple was in a marked crosswalk in front of the supermarket when Maybee struck them.

84-year-old Marilyn Mann died Saturday night at Central Florida Regional Medical Center in Ocala. Edward Mann died two days later at the same hospital.

LADY LAKE, FL – A worker was killed after being buried under rubble at the bridge at US Hwy 27/441 on Wednesday. 

According to the Villages News, the construction worker was operating a skid steer loader, commonly known as a Bobcat, when his path was obstructed. He crawled into a hole to investigate the issue when a retaining wall caved in, burying him underneath. 

A rescue effort quickly ensued in an attempt to unearth the man. Emergency personnel worked to remove debris with the help of heavy equipment.
