LAKE COUNTY, FL – A head-on collision between two cars in Lake County Friday, March 28, left a driver and a passenger dead, reports The Daily Commercial.

The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation determined that the vehicles were going in opposite directions on County Road 42 when the accident happened shortly after 7:00 p.m.

The driver of an eastbound 2015 Ford Mustang was speeding while approaching Lazy Lake Road, state troopers said.  As the driver tried to pass in a no-passing zone while negotiating a curve, the Mustang entered the westbound lane and collided with a 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a single-vehicle accident in Lake County last week left one person dead and another injured, WKMG reported.

The wreck, which involved a Ford F-350 pickup truck, occurred March 24 in the area of Lake Erie Road and Bay Lake Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the Ford was heading west on Lake Erie Road at about 5:21 p.m. and failed to maintain his lane while negotiating a left-hand curve.  The pickup went off the roadway and collided with a tree.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an accident in Lake County early Sunday morning that left three women dead and another injured, the Leesburg News reports.

The crash happened on State Road 19 near Howey-in-the-Hills at about 3:15 a.m.  According to the FHP, the driver of a northbound 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee failed to negotiate a left curve and ran off the road at St. Florian Lane.   The Jeep crashed into a pole and then overturned several times.  All four occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, a 30-year-old Mount Dora woman, and a passenger died at the scene.  Another passenger was pronounced dead after being taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.  The passengers who died were two women from Eustis, ages 32 and 28.   Another passenger, a 26-year-old Eustis woman, was hospitalized in critical condition.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A wrong-way driver was involved in a fatal collision on State Road 19 in Lake County Saturday night, reports WKMG.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 17-year-old boy was driving a 2020 Audi A3 southbound near Arrowtree Boulevard at about 11:40 p.m.  The teen veered into the northbound lane and entered the path of a 2013 Ford Mustang, and the Audi crashed into the Ford.  The impact caused the Ford to go off the road and hit a ditch.

The Ford driver, a 30-year-old man from Dunnellon, died at the scene.  He was not believed to have been wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

LAKE COUNTY, FL –  The Florida Highway Patrol has made an arrest in the case of a collision that killed a motorist in Lake County on Jan. 13, according to the Leesburg News.

The crash happened on US-27 at Margaux Drive shortly before 7 p.m.  According to the FHP, the vehicle of a 37-year-old Auburndale man had broken down and he was standing behind it, directing traffic to the next lane.   A tow truck driver stopped partially in the outside lane and on the shoulder of the road to assist the man.

State troopers said that at that point, the driver of a Kia Soul was heading south on US-27 in the outside lane and failed to move over.  The Kia then struck the 37-year-old pedestrian, causing him to hit the driver’s side mirror of the tow truck.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A report by WKMG states that a 37-year-old Auburndale man was killed in the crash on US-27 at Margaux Drive shortly before 7 p.m.  According to the FHP, the man’s vehicle had broken down and he was standing behind it, directing traffic to the next lane.   A tow truck driver stopped partially in the outside lane and on the shoulder of the road to assist the man.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – Authorities were called to a fatal crash involving a sedan and a dump truck in Lake County on Tuesday morning, WESH reported.

The accident happened at about 8:23 a.m. on County Road 439 near County Road 44A.  The Florida Highway Patrol stated that the driver of a 1994 dump truck encountered stopped traffic while heading north.  When the driver tried to brake, he veered into the southbound lane of CR-439 and collided head-on with a 2019 Toyota Corolla.

The Toyota driver, a 23-year-old Altoona woman, died after being rushed to AdventHealth Waterman Hospital.  The dump truck driver, a 28-year-old Leesburg man, was not injured and stayed at the scene.

ALTOONA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a multi-vehicle collision in Lake County on Wednesday morning left one man dead and another injured.

A report by WKMG stated that the crash took place on County Road 42 just east of State Road 19 in Altoona.  The FHP’s preliminary investigation found that the driver of a 2006 Chevy Cobalt was heading east at about 6:10 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The Chevy then entered the westbound lanes of County Road 42 and collided head-on with a 2019 Subaru WRX.  The driver of a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck tried to avoid the Subaru, but hit the back of the car.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – Two vehicles were involved in a deadly head-on collision in Lake County on Friday night, the Daily Commercial reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the wreck on County Road 42 at Lazy Lake Road after the incident happened at about 7:06 p.m.

The FHP’s investigation found that the driver of a 2015 Ford Mustang was heading east at a high rate of speed.  The driver tried to pass in a no-passing zone while negotiating a curve and entered the westbound lane, where it collided with a 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol released details of a fatal collision that occurred in Lake County on Monday afternoon.

According to WESH, the wreck happened in the area of County Road 33 and Soto Road in Groveland.  The FHP said the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet HHR was headed south on County Road 33 at about 12:13 p.m. when the vehicle went out of its lane.  The Chevrolet entered the path of a 2015 Ford Fusion going north.

The vehicles collided near Soto Road.  The Chevrolet driver was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead.  The Ford driver was taken to the same hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
