LAKE COUNTY, FL – A collision in Lake County left one person dead and two others injured last Tuesday afternoon, WKMG reports.

An investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol found that a man was driving a pickup truck westbound on County Road 474 at about 4:25 p.m. when a tree fell onto the vehicle near State Road 33.  That caused the pickup to enter the eastbound lane, where it ended up in the path of an oncoming dump truck and the vehicles collided.

The pickup driver, a 58-year-old man, died after being taken to an area hospital.  One of his passengers, a 40-year-old woman, was flown to an area hospital with critical injuries while the other passenger, a 34-year-old man, was seriously injured.  All three occupants were from Groveland.  The driver of the dump truck, a 47-year-old man from Kissimmee, was not injured.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a single-vehicle rollover accident in Lake County Monday night left a driver dead.

According to WOFL, the incident took place along County Road 46A near County Road 46.  The Florida Highway Patrol learned that the driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was headed south at about 10 p.m. and ran off the roadway.

When he tried returning to the road he overcorrected, and the vehicle overturned multiple times.  The driver, a 47-year-old man from Orlando, was ejected and died after being taken to an area hospital.  He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, investigators said.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A motorcycle accident in Lake County on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of an 80-year-old man, according to a WESH report.

The Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation found that the man was riding in the area of County Road 435 and Dubsdread Drive when he drove off the right side of the road at about 3:10 p.m.

The motorcycle crashed into two traffic signs and a tree, and the rider was ejected.  He was pronounced dead afater being taken to an area hospital.  The victim’s identity was not immediately released.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – State troopers are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred in Lake County early Monday morning.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, a man was walking on Lake Mack Drive near Evergreen Drive when the incident took place at 5:01 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the pedestrian was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck going north on Lake Mack Drive.  He died after being taken to Advent Health DeLand.  The victim, a 51-year-old man from DeLand, was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a two-vehicle collision in Lake County on Tuesday morning left one of the drivers dead and the other hospitalized.

According to WOFL, a 1996 Honda Civic and a 2008 Toyota Tacoma crashed in the vicinity of County Road 450A and Pine Street at about 6:11 a.m.  The FHP’s investigation determined that the driver of the Tacoma failed to yield and entered the path of the Civic as that vehicle headed west approaching the intersection.  The front side of the Civic hit the side of the  Tacoma.

The driver of the Civic, a 32-year-old man from Umatilla, died after being taken to an area hospital.  The driver of the Tacoma, age 40, was seriously injured and hospitalized.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly collision between a dump truck and a pickup truck in Lake County last week.

Inside Lake reports the incident took place June 14 on State Road 44 in the DeLand area.  According to state troopers, a man was driving a 2018 Kenworth dump truck east at about 7:15 a.m. when he swerved to the left to avoid traffic that was stopped near Misty Lane.

The dump truck collided with a westbound 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 head-on.  The driver of the Ram, a 35-year-old man from DeLand, was pronounced dead at the scene.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Lake County early Wednesday morning, WKMG reported.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was a 26-year-old man who was standing in the middle of State Road 40 when the incident happened at about 4 a.m.

A woman driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading west on SR-40 and approaching Blue Creek Lodge Road when she saw the pedestrian and tried to swerve to avoid him.  But the vehicle struck the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A head-on collision in Lake County Wednesday morning left one of the drivers dead and the other injured, WKMG reported.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2018 Nissan Maxima was going eastbound on Schofield Road at about 6:30 a.m. when he crossed over the center line near 5 Mile Road.

The Nissan entered the path of a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, resulting in a crash.  Both vehicles then overturned several times.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A woman who was charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Lake County has been sentenced to prison, the Villages-News reports.

Authorities said 32-year-old Tara Rene Schiessle of Lady Lake was the driver involved in the Sept 11, 2022 crash on Rolling Acres Road. The Florida Highway Patrol said Schiessle was driving a Jeep Cherokee Sport when she struck and killed a pedestrian, 40-year-old Jamie Weinz. Weinz’s male companion was also hit and seriously injured.  Schiessle allegedly stopped briefly, then kept going after hitting the two victims.

According to investigators, Schiessle initially reported she had struck a deer.  But the vehicle sought in the accident was linked to Schiessle after being tracked down to her apartment complex.

LAKE COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said an SUV and a semi-truck were involved in a fatal collision in Lake County on Tuesday morning.

The Leesburg News reports the accident occurred near the intersection of State Road 19 and O’Brien Road.  According to the FHP, the driver of an eastbound semi approaching the intersection at about 7 a.m. turned into the path of a 2017 Toyota 4-Runner.

The Toyota hit the trailer being towed by the truck.  The Toyota driver, a 73-year-old Howey-in-the-Hills woman, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital.  The semi driver was a 43-year-old man from Palm Springs.
