MARION COUNTY, FL – A car and a school bus were involved in a collision in Marion County on Thursday, First Coast News reported.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the bus driver was heading south on SW 27th Avenue and put on the yellow flashing lights while slowing down to pick up a child.  The driver of a southbound sedan did not slow down, and struck the rear of the bus.

No children were on board the bus, and no injuries were reported.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol has released information on a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in Marion County early Friday morning.

According to the Ocala StarBanner, the accident happened on Southeast 183rd Avenue Road near Southeast 26th Street.  The FHP’s report stated that a man was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle north on 183rd Avenue Road when he approached a left curve in the roadway and veered off the right side of the road.   The motorcycle collided with a concrete mailbox and a fence.

The rider, a 43-year-old Silver Springs man, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:22 a.m. by the Marion County Fire Rescue squad.

SUMMERFIELD, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Marion County last Friday night.

According to the Ocala StarBanner, the incident occurred at about 10:41 p.m. along U.S. 301 near County Road 42 in Summerfield.  The FHP said a man was walking eastbound across U.S. 301 after leaving a local bar.  The driver of an SUV was heading north in the outside lane, did not see the pedestrian, and struck him.

The victim, a 59-year-old man from The Villages, died at the scene.  State troopers said he was wearing dark clothing and the area where he was struck was dark.

MARION COUNTY, FL – Two people died after their vehicles collided last week in Marion County, First Coast News reported.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened Wednesday night along County Road 315.  The FHP’s investigation indicated that the driver of a northbound van crossed over the center line near Northeast 222nd Lane at about 8:35 p.m.   The van traveled into the southbound lane and entered the path of an SUV, resulting in a head-on collision.

The driver of the van, a 55-year-old man from Interlachen, and the driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old Fort McCoy woman, were both pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly wreck that occurred north of Ocala in Marion County on Friday night, the Ocala StarBanner reports.

The FHP and first responders were called to the scene on Interstate 75 south of the exit for County Road 318 at about 5:50 p.m.

An investigation found that the driver of a Ford F-250 pickup truck lost control of the vehicle while heading south in the left lane of I-75.   The pickup struck a guardrail and flipped over into the northbound lanes.  The Ford then struck a Toyota Camry, and debris from the two vehicles hit a GMC Yukon SUV.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A two-vehicle crash in Marion County on Saturday evening left one person dead and three others seriously injured, WESH reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the wreck happened on County Road 314 near NE 170th Avenue shortly after 7 p.m.

A witness reported seeing the driver of a westbound sedan try to overtake another vehicle and then cross the double yellow lines into the eastbound lanes.  The sedan collided head-on with another vehicle before flipping onto its side and ending up in a grassy area.

OCALA, FL – State troopers said an elderly man died after his vehicle was involved in a crash in Marion County early Friday morning.

WKMG reports the accident happened in the vicinity of SW 87th Avenue and SW 90th Place.  The Florida Highway Patrol believes that the victim was driving north on SW 87th Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle at about 5:40 a.m. after suffering a medical event.

The vehicle went off the roadway and crashed into a boulder.  The driver, an 82-year-old man from Ocala, died after being taken to an area hospital.  He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the FHP.

BELLEVIEW, FL – A 12-year-old was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Marion County on Wednesday afternoon, WCJB reports.

The incident took place on Southeast 36th Avenue near 107th Place in Belleview.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the girl was walking on the shoulder of the roadway at about 4 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle.  Witnesses said the vehicle was a white 4-door pickup truck that was towing a utility trailer.

The youngster suffered injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.  The FHP said the driver involved left the scene of the crash and is now being sought.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol has released details of an accident Thursday night that claimed the life of an Ocala man.

The Ocala StarBanner reports the incident took place on Southwest 103rd Street Road near 62nd Avenue Road in southwest Marion County.

The FHP’s investigation found that the driver of an SUV was going south on 62nd Avenue Road shortly before 9:45 p.m. and stopped at a four-way stop at the intersection with Southwest 103rd Street Road.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol and Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the scene of a fatal collision early Saturday morning.

According to a report in the Ocala StarBanner, the man killed in the crash was on his way to his brother’s funeral at the time and had his brother’s ashes in the car with him.

The FHP said the victim, a 64-year-old Fort McCoy man, was driving a Hyundai Elantra north on Northeast 160th Avenue Road when the incident occurred near 180th Street in Hog Valley.
