SUMMERFIELD, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a pedestrian fatality in Marion County Saturday morning, WKMG reports.

The FHP said a pedestrian was trying to walk across U.S. 441 near Summerfield when the incident happened at about 6:45 a.m.  The victim, a 74-year-old man from Sebring, was struck and killed by a Kia Forte going southbound near SE 173rd Street.  The vehicle ended up on the shoulder of the roadway.

The woman driving the Kia was not injured in the collision.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A woman was killed when the vehicle she was riding in was involved in a collision in Marion County on Saturday afternoon.

WKMG reported details of the crash that were released by the Florida Highway Patrol.  According to the FHP, the driver of a sedan was headed east on County Road 484 when the incident happened at about 12:40 p.m.

As that driver made a left turn onto Southwest 110th Avenue, the vehicle directly entered the path of an oncoming SUV and the vehicles collided, causing the SUV to overturn.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A driver who was involved in a crash with a school bus in Sumter County earlier this month has died of her injuries, WKMG reports.

The incident happened at about 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 6 on County Road 222 near County Road 462, west of U.S. 301.  The Florida Highway Patrol said that the driver of a Ford Escort wagon was going east and failed to stop at a stop sign.  The Ford entered the path of the school bus and the vehicles collided.

The Ford driver, a 68-year-old Bushnell woman, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.  The FHP announced last week that the woman has passed away.  The school bus driver, a 50-year-old Wildwood woman, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

FORT MCCOY, FL – Marion County Fire Rescue crews were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Fort McCoy on Sunday.

According to the MCFR’s Facebook post, units were dispatched to the 13000 block of Northeast Highway 315 shortly after 5:30 p.m. after 911 calls of a collision blocking traffic and causing debris on the roadway.

One person trapped in the wreckage was extricated by the rescue crews.  The victim was declared a trauma alert and taken to an area hospital.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A rollover accident in Marion County on Wednesday evening left a woman dead, WKMG reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a driver heading east on County Road 484 at about 5:30 p.m. lost control of her vehicle near S. Magnolia Avenue.  The vehicle went into the median before overturning several times across the westbound lanes and ending up in a line of trees.

The driver was ejected in the crash and died at the scene.  She was a 24-year-old woman from Belleview, the FHP said.  The victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time the wreck occurred.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a man died following a dump truck accident in Marion County on Tuesday morning.

The Ocala StarBanner reports the incident happened along County Road 225A near Northwest 79th Avenue Road at about 9:10 a.m.

According to the FHP, a man driving a dump truck loaded with dirt was headed north when he crossed over the center line.  The vehicle went off the roadway and collided with a concrete barrier.

MARION COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a collision in Marion County Tuesday morning claimed the life of an elderly bicycle rider.

According to the Ocala StarBanner, the 76-year–old victim was riding his bicycle on Southeast Maricamp Road east of Lake Road when the incident took place at about 6:30 a.m.  State troopers said a 31-year-old man driving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck spotted the bicycle rider and tried to change lanes, but could not due to the presence of another vehicle in the left lane.

The bicycle rider veered into the path of the Chevy and was hit by the pickup.  The rider , a resident of Silver Springs Shores, was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County rescue crews.

BELLEVIEW, FL – A collision near Belleview Santos Elementary School on Thursday left two Ocala residents dead, reports the Ocala StarBanner.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation, the driver of a Chevy Cobalt was headed northbound on U.S. 441 South at about 5 p.m. when he entered the left turn lane to go onto Southeast 95th Street.  The Cobalt then collided at the intersection with a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that was going south on U.S. 441.  The impact sent the Toyota off the roadway where it overturned onto its roof near a utility pole.  The Chevy went off the roadway onto a shoulder close to a fence near the school.

The driver of the Chevy, a 72-year-old man from Ocala, and his passenger, a 71-year-old Ocala woman, died after being transported to HCA Florida Ocala.  The driver of the Toyota,  a 20-year-old Fort McCoy man, was seriously injured and taken to the same hospital.

OCKLAWAHA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol and Marion County emergency crews were dispatched to a pedestrian fatality in Ocklawaha on Monday night, according to the Ocala StarBanner.

Investigators determined that a man was lying down in the eastbound lane of East County Road 25 near Bay Road when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver.  The victim, a 71-year-old man from Ocklawaha, was found dead at the scene shortly before 10 p.m.  His name was not immediately released.

Family members told the FHP they did not know why the man was at that location, or where he was heading.

MARION COUNTY, FL – A Marion County school bus was involved in a crash that left two people injured on Wednesday morning.

WKMG reports the bus was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of SW 31st Avenue Road and Marion Oaks Trail at about 8 a.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the southbound pickup failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with the bus as both vehicles were entering the intersection.  The impact then sent the bus off the roadway, where it crashed into a house in the 12900 block of SW 31st Avenue Road.  The pickup came to rest on Marion Oaks Trail.
