SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A car accident in The Villages Sunday evening sent a driver to the hospital, according to the Villages-News.

The incident occurred on Buena Vista Boulevard near Bonita Boulevard in Sumter County at about 5:45 p.m.  The Sumter County Sheriff’s Ofice said a man was driving south when his vehicle entered the median and crashed into a palm tree.

The driver was taken to UF Health-The Villages Hospital with minor injuries, and was then given a ticket for careless driving.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A man was convicted last week in connection with a fatal accident in Sumter County, according to the Citrus County Chronicle.

33-year-old Anthony Nepoleon Brown of Wildwood was found guilty of several charges in connection with the August 22, 2017 incident that led to the death of 55-year-old Laura Lee Price of Inverness.

Authorities said Brown was driving a BMW 550i as he attempted to flee from Wildwood Police and Sumter County deputies.  He went through a stop sign in the area of State Road 44 and Sumter County Road 219 and crashed into a Honda CRV driven by Price.   The BMW then sideswiped a Chevy pickup truck and hit a Mack semi-trailer truck.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – A pickup truck accident in Sumter County Saturday morning left a driver hospitalized.

According to a report in the Villages-News, the accident happened near the intersection of County Road 319 and County Road 326 at about 10:35 a.m.  The driver of a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck drove off the roadway, crashed into a tree and then hit a fence, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver, a 73-year-old man from Bushnell, was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center. No information was released on the extent of his injuries.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a pickup truck accident in Sumter County Tuesday morning left a driver seriously injured, according to a report by the Villages-News.

The incident took place on State Road 44 east of County Road 247 near Rutland at about 6:42 a.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman was driving a pickup truck west on State Road 44 when she lost control of the vehicle and it rotated to the center median.

The pickup then overturned and ended up in the eastbound lanes of the roadway.  The driver, a 64-year-old woman from Lake Panasoffkee, was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol was at the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in Sumter County on Monday morning.

The Villages-News reports the incident took place on U.S. Highway 27/441 in Lady Lake at about 5 a.m.

Authorities said a 52-year-old man wandered away from UF Health-The Villages Hospital, where he had reportedly been a patient.  The man walked into the northbound lanes of the highway and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old Mississippi woman.  It was not known why he was walking in that area.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a rollover accident in Sumter County claimed the life of a driver, reports the Villages-News.

According to the FHP, a 22-year-old woman was driving a pickup truck on State Road 44 near County Road 243 west of Wildwood when the crash occurred Friday morning at 11:10 a.m.

Investigators said the woman was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway, causing her vehicle to enter the median and overturn.  The woman, a Wildwood resident, was ejected from the pickup and killed.  Her name was not released. State troopers said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – State troopers said an elderly man died after his motorcycle was involved in an accident in Sumter County.

According to a report by the Villages-News, the accident happened Saturday morning in the area of County Road 673 and County Road 683D in Bushnell.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 80-year-old motorcyclist was riding near the Sumter Oaks Escapees RV Park at about 7:25 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, causing the motorcycle to overturn.

BUSHNELL, FL – Two truck drivers were injured when their vehicles collided in Sumter County Friday morning, according to WKMG.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the two semi-trucks were both going south on Interstate 75 in Bushnell when the incident occurred at about 8:48 a.m.

As one truck moved from the center lane to the outside lane near mile marker 313, it hit the back of the trailer being towed by the other truck.

WILDWOOD, FL – Authorities have arrested an alleged drunk driver following an accident in Sumter County last week that left one person dead and three others injured, WKMG reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 40-year-old John Andrew Henderson of Kissimmee was driving a sedan south in the inside lane on Interstate 75 in Wildwood Wednesday at about 2:44 a.m. when he entered the center lane and struck a trailer that was being towed by a pickup truck. The impact caused the pickup to go over a guardrail and overturn.

The pickup truck driver, a 32-year-old man from Spring Hill, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the scene. His three passengers, a 32-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy, were hospitalized with serious injuries. All are from Spring Hill. Henderson was not injured.

SUMTER COUNTY, FL – Authorities said they have made an arrest in connection with a recent accident in Sumter County that left a motorcyclist dead, the Villages-News reports.

32-year-old Emmanuel Quesada Fonseca was arrested on a charge of driving without a license in a case involving death. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Fonseca was driving a truck towing a trailer south on Interstate 75 in Wildwood on May 19 when one of the trailer’s tire rims came loose and rolled into the path of a man riding a motorcycle along with three fellow bikers.

When the motorcycle struck the rim, the rider was thrown from the bike and landed on the roadway.  The victim, a 55-year-old man from Acworth, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
