WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – A multi-vehicle accident snarled traffic along a stretch of Interstate 75 in Pasco County during Wednesday morning’s commute, reports WTVT.

The crash, which occurred at about 8 a.m., took place between State Road 54 and State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel.  The Florida Highway Patrol said commercial and non-commercial vehicles were involved, causing injuries that were not life-threatening.

All southbound traffic was diverted at Exit 279 for State Road 54.  The right lane of I-75 remained blocked nearly three hours after the wreck, which remains under investigation.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – Authorities are trying to locate the driver who struck and injured a teenage girl in Pasco County last Thursday morning, Pasco News Online reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 17-year-old victim was crossing the street on an electric scooter at Oldwoods Avenue and Tonka Terrace in Wesley Chapel when she was hit by a northbound sedan at about  7 a.m.

The driver reportedly did not stop at a posted stop sign prior to the collision  The girl, who was in a marked crosswalk at the time, was hospitalized with a broken arm.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – A collision on State Road 56 in Pasco County on Saturday afternoon left two people dead and four others injured, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

The accident happened at the intersection of State Road 56 and Piazza Avenue in Wesley Chapel at about 3 p.m.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of an eastbound Nissan Altima made a left turn and entered the path of a Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle.  The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old man from Tampa, struck the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The FHP said he had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the wreck.

A passenger in the Nissan, a 36-year-old woman from Fitzgerald, Georgia, died after being transported to an area hospital.  The driver of the Nissan, a 32-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel, and three adult passengers in her car sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – A search is underway for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Pasco County on Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A report by WTSP stated that the victim was a 17-year-old boy in Wesley Chapel.  The FHP determined that the teen was crossing the road in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Chancey Road and Bellmeade Court just after 10 p.m. when he was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder whose driver failed to yield.

The boy was declared dead at the scene.  State troopers said the driver involved fled the scene without stopping to help.

MARION COUNTY, FL – One driver was killed and another injured when their vehicles collided in Marion County Wednesday night, WKMG reports.

The accident occurred along Interstate 75 southbound near mile marker 354.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 19-year-old woman was driving south on I-75 at about 9:10 p.m. when she drove off the road.

A pickup truck was parked in the emergency lane, and the woman’s car struck the back of a trailer attached to the pickup.  The woman, a resident of Wesley Chapel, died in the wreck.  State troopers said she was wearing a seat belt.  A 39-year-old Dade City man who was the driver of the pickup sustained minor injuries.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – Two people died following a collision between a car and a truck in Pasco County last week, Pasco News Online reports.

The accident happened in the area of State Road 54 and Morris Bridge Road on the morning of April 7.  The Florida Highway Patrol said an 81-year-old woman was driving a car west on State Road 54 when she turned into the path of an eastbound tractor-trailer.

The truck crashed into the car, and both vehicles wound up in the southeast part of the intersection.  The driver of the car, a Zephyrhills resident, and her passenger, a 38-year-old New York resident, died after being taken to an area hospital.  Another passenger in the car was hospitalized in serious condition.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a vehicle crashed into a restaurant in Pasco County Friday morning, WTSP reports.

The accident happened at Panera Bread at the Shoppes at Wiregrass on Willet Way in Wesley Chapel.  According to the FHP, a man lost control of a Kia Rio while driving east on State Road 56 shortly before 7 a.m.  The vehicle crossed the median into the westbound lanes, entered the Panera parking lot, struck a parked car and then slammed into the building.

The car caught fire but firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and come to the driver’s aid.  The driver, a 36-year-old Georgia man, was hospitalized with minor injuries.  No other injuries were reported.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – State troopers said an accident in Pasco County Tuesday morning left a driver dead.

According to WFLA, the crash happened on Interstate 75 near the exit for State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel.  The Florida Highway Patrol said a Dade City man was driving south on I-75 when he attempted to change lanes for the exit to State Road 56.  At that point he lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the shoulder of the interstate, where the vehicle flipped over and ended up in the tree line.

The 58-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a driver was killed when his pickup truck was involved in a crash in Pasco County.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the victim was a 62-year-old man from Tampa who was driving a Ford F-150.  State troopers said he was headed north on Tupelo Lane in Wesley Chapel shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday morning when he was unable to negotiate a right turn at the intersection with Thistle Court.

The Ford went off the roadway and slammed into the garage of a local home.  The driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was wearing a seat belt at the time, the FHP said.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – Pasco Fire Rescue reported it was at the scene of a fatal ATV rollover accident on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place in the area of Fog Hollow Drive and Solitude Drive in Wesley Chapel, according to WTSP.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 61-year-old Wesley Chapel man was driving an ATV when he was not able to negotiate a curve properly and the vehicle overturned, ejecting both occupants.   The ATV fell on top of the driver’s 62-year-old passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver was flown to an area hospital as a trauma alert with serious injuries.  The names of the victims were not released.
