WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – An 81-year-old man died and a 13-year-old passenger was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash near State Road 54 Wednesday night.
According to WFLA, the man was headed south on Wiregrass Ranch Boulevard approaching a construction zone when he hit a barrier fence. The vehicle then collided with a John Deere excavator at the construction site.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries.

According to a report by WTSP, the crash occurred at the intersection of Meadow Pointe Boulevard and State Road 56.
One person was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A second victim was transported via ambulance.
WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – A Road Ranger was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on I-75 this morning.
According to Fox 13, the ranger was assisting troopers at the scene of a prior accident near Overpass Road when a Toyota sedan veered into the blocked lanes and hit the man.
The unidentified victim was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
